Reporting a data error
These are the messages we most want to receive. Public pension rules change and official documents sometimes contradict each other, so corrections from people who know their own system are genuinely useful.
To get it fixed quickly, include:
- Which system and which page
- The figure you think is wrong, and what it currently says
- What you believe the correct value is
- A link to the official source that supports it
Source links get fixed first
A report with a link to the plan’s own handbook, a board resolution or the statute can be verified and corrected the same day. One without a source takes much longer, because we have to go find it ourselves before we can change anything.
What we cannot help with
We have no access to any retirement system’s records, and no relationship with any of them. That means we cannot:
- Look up your individual benefit, service credit or account balance
- Tell you what your pension will actually pay
- Resolve a dispute with your retirement system
- Advise on whether you personally should retire, or when
For any of those, contact your own system directly. Their member services staff can see your record, which is the thing that actually determines your benefit.

What to expect
This is a small site run in limited time. We read everything that comes in and we prioritise corrections, but we cannot promise a reply to every message and we would rather say that plainly than advertise a response time we will not meet. If you have sent a correction with a source and the page has not changed after a couple of weeks, it is reasonable to send it again.
Other things worth sending
- A system you would like added — tell us which one and roughly how many people it covers
- A rule that our pages explain badly, or a place where the wording confused you
- A calculator that produced a result you believe is impossible, with the inputs you used
Before writing, you may want to check the methodology page, which lists what each calculator does and does not model, and the disclaimer, which covers the known approximations.
